Security increased at UK airports after Terror Alert
Created by HH Team - 02/11/2010
Minor upgrades to the security measures at UK airports have been announced as a result of the recent terror alert.
A device found aboard a cargo plane at East Midlands Airport last week, similar to a device also found on a plane in Dubai, may have been part of a plot to blow up a plane in mid air it was suggested. It's thought the explosive device was hidden in a printer cartridge and was discovered after a tip-off.
As a result security measures have been put in place including a ban on certain freight from Yemen and Somalia, plus a ban on printer cartridges in hand luggage on passenger aircraft.
Holidaymakers packing for last minute holidays are asked to take these extra security measures into account when preparing to go on their travels.
