Petrol Price Rises in the UK Encourage Holidaymakers to look for Cheap Holidays Abroad

Created by HH Team - 13/04/2011

Petrol price rises in the UK are forcing holidaymakers to look at different options for their cheap holidays this year, with holidays abroad looking favourable.

A poll of 2000 holidaymakers by tripadvisor suggests that holidaymakers are opting for cheap holidays abroad to avoid spiralling costs of petrol in the UK. In fact 19% said that they were less likely to holiday in the UK due to driving being too expensive. 35% of those polled said the cost of petrol here made them want to book a holiday abroad.

Halfords on the other hand claims that it's latest research shows that UK holidaymakers are more likely to take a short break camping in the UK over the Easter bank holiday period than jet off abroad. The camping and caravanning club has apparently seen a rise in bookings for the next four weeks of 25% compared to last year, no doubt fuelled by the nicer weather being experienced by many at the moment!

If HolidayHoliday.co.uk's holiday searches are anything to go by, current favourites for holidays abroad include Tenerife, The Canary Islands, , spain and portugal, with many holidaymakers leaving it until the last minute to book cheap holidays this year.
