About Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the closest island in the Canary Islands to the African coast, resulting in warm weather conditions and sea temperatures. Fuerteventura is well known for its miles of sandy beaches and golden sand dunes framed by the beautiful turquoise sea, all of which attribute to its landscape, along with the various volcanic episodes in its past. A mecca for watersports enthusiasts, Fuerteventura hosts a world windsurfing event on its shores each year.

Holidays to Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura was formed from Volcanic activity about 70 million years ago. Due to its proximity to Morocco on the African coast, Fuerteventura benefits from lots of sand deposited onto the coastline from the Sahara desert, resulting in its reputation as the best of the Canary Islands for beach holidays.

Fuerteventura holidays Indeed, Fuerteventura's beaches are a major draw for holidaymakers visiting the island, looking for a relaxing sun, sea and sand holiday. Costa Calma and Jandia are situated in the South/East area of the island, with Costa Calma a quiet beach holiday spot and Morro Jable/Jandia also promising a sunlovers paradise with miles of beautiful sand beaches. Costa Caleta and Corralejo are popular with British holidaymakers with Costa Caleta providing calm clear waters in a horseshoe shaped bay ideal for families. In the North, Corralejo, a very popular resort, is a haven of activity with numerous waterparks and things to do and nightlife for families and couples alike.
