About Lara Beach

Lara Beach is located in Antalya City, right along the beautiful Mediterranean coastline of Turkey. Lara Beach is at the east side of Antalya's rocky region, a brown beach at the foot of the Lower Duden Waterfall that connects to the Antalya Gulf. Also known as Lara Plaji, it is known as the longest beach in Turkey with dark brown, pebbled sand where calm waves from the Mediterranean end.

Flights to Lara Beach

To get to Antalya, you can take one of the many regular flights from Istanbul and Ankara, or take one of the many chartered flights from major cities in Europe. The airport of Antalya has two international terminals that have free shuttle service between them 24 hours a day. The airport itself is only about 10 kilometers east of the city center.

There are also a number of intercity road transportation services from different parts of Turkey to Antalya. Service coaches are also available and would be the most convenient way to get to Antalya if you are coming from another one of the resorts in Turkey. You can also take the bus which brings you to the Antalya main bus station, which is about 4 kilometers north of the city center. If you are travelling by rail, you can also book a ticket to Burdur (nearest station to Antalya) from any major city in Europe.

From the Antalya city center, take the dolmus minibus from the Kalekapisi station to get to Lara Beach. The minibus runs through the entire public access area along the beach, which takes about a forty-five minute ride from the city center going to the east.

Things to do in Lara Beach, Antalya

There are several commercial services for beach lovers available throughout the stretch of the Lara Beach. You will find many beach chairs and big umbrellas for your comfort, and a number of places offer food and drinks that you can enjoy at the beach. Shower stalls are also available along the beach if you do not want to go back to your hotel every so often.

Aside from sunbathing in style, you can also catch a boat ride to enjoy the view of the crystal blue water against the backdrop of mountains. You can ask the boat operator to take you to spots where you can go on a quick dive and swim. Some places also have elaborate water slides than can give you a great, fun and exciting ride.

After a day well spent enjoying the water and the beach, you can head on to the Antalya city center to enjoy the nightlife and other entertainment offered in the area. Shopping in Antalya can be a fun experience. You can try your haggling skills and get the most value for your money. There are great finds in store for you if you like pottery or just want to get basic leather and cotton goods, which are also very famous in Antalya shopping. If you are ready to make a more expensive purchase, check out one of the many jewellers in the city.

If you are spending more than a day in Lara Beach, make sure you book yourself for a tour of the city and neighboring centers. Half day and full day tours are available, so you have to decide how much of the area you want to see. Make sure you have the chance to see the tower in the old city walls of Antalya City Center, called Kalekapisi (which means Castle Gate and is also where the dolmus minibus stops).

From there, you can go downhill starting from the Hadrian's Gate, a famous landmark in the city built in 130 AD to commemorate the visit of the great Roman Emperor Hadrian to the city of Antalya. If you enter the there-panelled marble gate, you will find yourself in the Old Antalya, called Kaleici.

Inside this Roman town, you will also find the Broken Minaret Mosque and the Old Stone Tower called Hidirlik Kulesi. If you have more time, you should also check out the Karaalioglu Parki, Antalya's city park, and the Antalya Muzesi. Antalya is also known for its attractive harbour view, so make sure you check out Eski Liman, the Roman yacht harbor.
